About
For me a more intense dedication to painting started back in 2011, beginning with acrylics and watercolor. After taking art classes with Miriam Paschke and a foundational course for painting and drawing at the “Akthof” art school in Munich. My studies continued at the academies of Bad Reichenhall and Kolbermoor, with Bernd Zimmer, Prof. Christian Ludwig Attersee, Prof. Jerry Zeniuk and Ingrid Floss. I am very much inspired by the work of Joan Mitchell, Claude Monet and Helene Frankenthaler.
My paintings are best described as strong, colorful and gestural. My art evolves from an interaction between inherent spontaneity and a very thoughtful arrangement. There is an interaction between the colors, a relation between them and the will to let them speak to the viewer. At the same time it is something about opposites, about contrast – from light to darkness, sharp edges to blurred fields or fast to slow.
The first strokes are fast and strong, following intuition. But than there is the need to elaborate, to set and layer paint and color. At the same it means that forms, colors and the consequently evoked feelings have to converge to right emotion.
My paintings don’t tell stories and yet capture distinct emotions, often one will find a hint to something figurative or inspiration related to nature.
